Award for young scientists
The Young Scientist Award formed part of the MSB 2022 programme, giving young researchers presenting at the symposium a dedicated recognition within the scientific schedule of the meeting.
The award was organised by the Society for Microscale Separations and Bioanalysis (SMSB), an independent and non-profit organisation committed to promoting the development and applications of microscale separations.
Context
MSB 2022 brought together a multidisciplinary audience spanning microscale engineering and the separation sciences and their applications, held over July 3–6, 2022 at the University of Liège in Belgium.
The 38th International Symposium on Microscale Separations and Bioanalysis (MSB 2022) brought together researchers working at the intersection of microscale separation science and bioanalysis, held at the University of Liège in Belgium in early July 2022. The meeting addressed advances in separation methods, microfluidic and lab-on-chip engineering, detection and bioanalysis of biomarkers and medicines, and the main trends in the field, with an extended scientific programme of lectures, short courses, flash presentations and posters that encouraged interaction between established scientists and early-career participants.
Recognising emerging work, the Young Scientist Award was part of the MSB 2022 programme and offered young researchers presenting at the symposium a dedicated form of acknowledgement within the scientific schedule of the meeting. Participation in the award served as a way to spotlight promising contributions in microscale separations and bioanalysis, supporting career visibility and providing contact with senior scientists and organisers of the field. The symposium was organised by the SMSB, with local and international organising committees, an international scientific board of directors, invited speakers and sponsors contributing to the programme, alongside social events and activities for delegates to enjoy the host city and its surroundings.
